Beyond her professional work, Dr. Zee’s life has been shaped by exploration, curiosity, and direct lived experience.

She is a PADI-certified scuba diver and has dived in Bali, the Maldives, the Galapagos Islands, and Thailand. She has run 5K Color Runs, attended Burning Man in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and traveled to approximately 45–50 countries.

​

She was diagnosed with ADHD at age 16 and autism at age 32, with confirmation through 3T MRI and functional MRI brain scans.

​

Born in Pakistan, she immigrated to New York City as a baby and was raised in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. She now lives in Canada with her husband, three Persian cats, and a Great Pyrenees dog.
